DOGMAS & FUNDAMENTOS is a landscape design company based in Tavira, Algarve. We plan and build outdoor spaces for private clients and commercial properties across southern Portugal — from intimate garden retreats to expansive villa grounds.

We handle the full scope of landscape work — from initial site analysis and concept design through to plant procurement, paving, construction oversight, and final handover. Clients who already have contractors in place can commission the design phase alone; those who want a single point of responsibility can hand the entire project to us.
Our work spans private residential gardens, villa terraces, courtyard spaces, commercial grounds, and public green areas. Scale does not change our approach: every outdoor space, large or small, deserves the same level of thought and care.
We bring local knowledge of climate, soil, and native flora to every project. Working in the Algarve means understanding the heat of high summer, the mild winters, the character of Portuguese stone, and the plants that genuinely thrive here rather than simply survive.

We specify materials that are appropriate, durable, and sourced responsibly. Where possible, we favour local stone and regional plant nurseries.
Our studio is located in Tavira — one of the most characterful towns in the eastern Algarve, known for its traditional architecture, the Rio Gilão, and a landscape that shifts between coastal salt marsh and dry inland scrub.
This setting informs how we think about outdoor space. The Algarve is not a single environment: the coast, the hills, and the plains each have distinct conditions, and our designs reflect that diversity.
We work primarily across the Algarve region, with projects in both the western and eastern stretches of the coast as well as inland areas. For larger commissions, we are open to working further afield in southern Portugal.
